Draft for review - not yet adopted

Effective date remains pending. This copy is provided for review.

Draft updated October 1, 2026. Effective date: pending adoption. These proposed terms are available for review and are not yet an agreement accepted by visitors or account holders.

Services and operator

LabThrift is operated by Digifender LLC ("Digifender," "we," "us"). These proposed terms cover the guides at labthrift.com, the Lab plan notebook at plan.labthrift.com, and the ByteRush learning app at app.labthrift.com. They do not govern Whumpo, ChapelCloud or a separately negotiated custom project.

The guides explain home lab and computing topics. Lab plan lets you organize equipment, services, project steps, rack sketches, hostnames and purchase ideas. ByteRush provides short technical lessons and keeps learning progress, including topics, completed lessons, quiz responses, points and achievements. Features may change as the services develop.

Using guides and technical tools

The material is educational information. Examples, hardware suggestions, capacity estimates and interactive demonstrations may be simplified, incomplete or outdated. A notebook estimate is not live monitoring, a rack sketch is not an engineering drawing, and a learning achievement is not a professional certification.

Before applying instructions, check their suitability for your equipment and software, make appropriate backups, and understand the command or change you intend to make. Use administrative and testing tools only on systems you own or are authorized to operate. You remain responsible for your equipment, electrical safety, software licenses, cloud charges and configuration decisions. Obtain qualified help where a task calls for it.

Product prices, stock and vendor specifications can change. A link or recommendation does not make Digifender the seller, warrant a third-party product, or promise that a particular purchase will work for your circumstances. Third-party purchases are subject to the seller's terms.

Accounts, passkeys and backups

Lab plan uses a username and a passkey rather than an email address and password. Its recovery options include additional passkeys and enrollment codes created from an accessible account. Protect your devices, passkey provider and any enrollment code. Loss of every usable credential may prevent access; do not rely on email recovery.

ByteRush can keep progress on your device and provides passkey account features for synchronization. Check the displayed save or sync status before relying on another device to have the latest information. A locally saved change is not necessarily a completed server backup.

Use available exports or backups for information you want to keep. Clearing site storage, replacing a device or losing credentials can make local or account information unavailable. Losing access does not by itself confirm that stored server records have been deleted. Do not use either app as your only copy of important operational information.

If you use a service on behalf of an organization, you must have authority to act for it. Do not impersonate another person, share access you are not entitled to share, or use an account to evade a lawful restriction.

Your information and our content

You retain your rights in the plans, notes and other original material you submit. Under these proposed terms, you would grant Digifender only the rights needed to host, store, process, transmit and display that material to provide the features you use, maintain and protect the service, and comply with law. This proposed service license does not authorize public advertising with your private notebook or training a general-purpose AI model on it.

Submit only information you are entitled to use. Avoid passwords, private keys, access tokens, payment-card details and unnecessary personal information about others. A hostname, device inventory or free-text note can reveal sensitive information about your network even when your account uses a nickname.

Digifender and its licensors retain rights in their original guides, lessons, designs and branding. The proposed permission is to use the services and make reasonable copies for personal or internal reference, preserving attribution and notices. It does not authorize impersonation, resale of protected material or a claim of endorsement. Statutory exceptions, open-source licenses and separately granted permissions remain available. Send copyright concerns through the Copyright and Content Notices page.

Acceptable use

Use the services lawfully and respect other people's rights. Do not attempt unauthorized access, interfere with availability, introduce malicious code, bypass access controls, misuse another person's credentials, or submit material you have no right to process. Do not use the services for fraud, unlawful surveillance or harassment. Good-faith reports of a suspected defect or security issue are welcome through the contact below.

Availability, account changes and payment

We may maintain, modify or discontinue features. If adopted, these terms would permit proportionate restrictions or suspension when needed to address abuse, security risks or legal requirements, with notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue where reasonably practicable. Export important information regularly, including before requesting account deletion.

These proposed terms do not authorize a charge or recurring subscription. Any paid offering would need separately disclosed prices, payment authorization, renewal and cancellation conditions, and applicable refund information before purchase. A guide's link to a store does not create a payment agreement with Digifender.

Responsibility and legal rights

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the guides and tools would be supplied as available, without a contractual promise of uninterrupted operation, perfect accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee recovery of information after device loss, failed synchronization or account deletion.

Nothing here excludes a mandatory consumer right, a remedy or liability that applicable law does not allow to be excluded, or a commitment in a separate written agreement. This draft does not impose arbitration, a class-action waiver or a specific damages cap.

Privacy, updates and contact

The LabThrift Privacy Notice and Cookies and Browser Storage Notice explain the proposed disclosures for these services. Publishing this draft does not replace an existing privacy promise or record your consent to a different use of information. Before adoption, the applicable notice and acceptance steps must be completed. Later material changes will receive any notice or consent required by law.
